With the range of laptops available – at vastly different price points – it’s easy to get confused when choosing new machines for your business. There are lots of things to take into consideration, from performance and speed, through to ensuring the right software is in place. At Highstream, we are always happy to help our customers source the right laptops for their needs. To really get it right, it isn’t always the cheapest machine that represents the best value for money.
From the inside, out
One of the most important elements to get right with new laptops is the hardware. Laptops required for business use generally require a minimum of 16GB RAM and an Intel Core i5 processor, along with 256 GB SSD storage as a minimum. Anything less than this and you will find that the laptops’ performance will be less than optimal. While short-term users might not see any issues with a lesser specification, the lifespan of the devices will be dramatically reduced.
Reactive repairs
Buying the manufacturer’s warranty might seem like an unnecessary outlay when you are investing in new machines. However, the benefits of a fully trained hardware engineer on hand to sort out any issues with your laptops throughout their lifetime cannot be underestimated. Buying the warranties at point of purchase, also represents the best value.
WFH but still professional
Regardless of whether your team is now based from home or the office, it is important that your computers have the right licenses. ‘Home’ editions are generally cheaper. However, ‘professional’ licenses include security and functional tools that are so essential to ensuring your devices perform well – and safely – within the business environment.
Plug and play
Once you have selected and bought your new devices, they will still need to be set-up. Here at Highstream, we work with our clients to take the stress out of the process. Our quotes include the configuration and installation of any new devices. This ensures that they are set up correctly from the start and all security elements are in play from the moment you open up your device and login.
