Cutting edge manufacturing can be a complex world.

But when you combine UK-first manufacturing technology with outdated IT systems, top-of-the-line security requirements and multi-site locations, then that complexity really can reach a whole new level!

That’s the challenge we faced when we were commissioned by Alan Sheppard and the brilliant team at LCA Group just over six months ago.

LCA Group is now winning class-leading accreditations for its new IT infrastructure and security – and we’re incredibly proud to have been on this journey with them.

Innovating with innovators

If you don’t know who LCA Group is, they were recently hailed as the ‘Most Innovative Business’ in North Wales in this year’s ‘North Wales Business Leaders Awards’.

That’s no fluke. They are breaking new ground in UK manufacturing and making waves in the markets they operate in.

They are specialist suppliers, designers and manufacturers of quality control systems for a whole range of sectors including pharma, nuclear, food manufacturing, power generation, water and utilities, and oil and gas. And they’ve been leading the way in their field for more than 35 years.

In 2017, the company moved from two previous sites in Runcorn and Ewloe to a new state-of-the-art purpose built facility in Hawarden, North Wales, which opened in January 2018. It now also houses one of only seven Rittal Automation Systems 3D laser machining centres in the world.

So, in terms of innovation, they really do know their stuff! And we were delighted to be able to help introduce that same level of innovation to their IT infrastructure.

Making our mark

The team at Highstream Solutions and I were called in to help them unify their complex and outdated IT systems from the two sites into the new one; integrate the new technology, and ensure innovative and modern IT infrastructure – as well as ongoing IT support – was imbedded into their business.

As well as installing a bespoke local network infrastructure for the new facility, we also integrated complex security and CCTV systems, and linked up the £500,000 precision 3D laser machining centre.

It meant replacing everything from two sites into one, amalgamating some of the most advanced equipment in UK manufacturing and delivering second-to-none security integrated at all levels – from infrastructure through to end-user processes – all of which are critical to the work LCA Group does and the sectors it serves.

And to ensure we delivered this seamlessly without impacting the running of the business, major components were installed over the Christmas and New Year break – a down time period for LCA Group’s new facility.

Let’s just say, Santa Claus was second in our list of priorities this year!

Earlier this year we announced we had been awarded Microsoft “Silver” Partnership status – a highly sought after endorsement recognising our consistent capability, expertise and commitment after securing verified customer references.

So, finally, we moved them onto highly-secure cloud-based systems including data storage, email and security, and they were also equipped with the recently-launched Microsoft 365 Business solution software packages.

Class-leading IT and manufacturing

After the work was complete and we’d delivered the project, we called in independent validators who awarded our efforts with Cyber Essentials Plus status, a class-leading security standard endorsed by the UK Government.

LCA Group placed a high level of trust in us to deliver the best solution, so we’re delighted to have helped them achieve the same levels of innovation in their IT and security as they demand in all the work they do.

We’re also now supporting them through our remote IT Helpdesk, so we’re on hand to support the team on an ongoing basis.

We were delighted that Alan recently took the time to speak about our impact. I’ll let him do the talking!

“Paul and the team have been incredible support partners for our business,” he said. “We gave Highstream a clean slate to create a new technology solution that was bespoke to our business. Critical to this was that it was delivered seamlessly as we have significant volumes of work ongoing at the new facility in Hawarden. And the team have been relentless about delivering the best possible solution for us.”

For us, this is exactly the type of relationship we try to build.

We want to become our client’s true and trusted partner – a team that is regarded as giving the right solution, not the most profitable one.

We want to earn the right to provide support and service by delivering on our promises.

And we want to create a partnership for the long-term.

We’re delighted to be working with a range of big brands and SMEs in Cheshire and North Wales who use us to outsource their IT, cloud and print services.

We want to become the first name on the list for successful and growing businesses in Cheshire, Warrington, Shropshire or North Wales when it comes to choosing the right IT support, solution and hardware provider.

And we’ll only do that by delivering the very best support we can for companies like LCA.
